フランスのパリで、ブルトン人のルーツを持つ両親の元に生まれたイヴ・タンギーが、1937年に描いた作品。

タンギーは幼い時に両親の故郷であるブルターニュ地方によく出かけていて、その地で見た古代のドルメンなどが、その後の芸術活動に大きな影響を与えたと言われている。
