【ローマ】映画の中のコロッセオ Roma - Colosseum in the movie

 

コロッセオはローマの中でも屈指の観光スポット。チケット売り場には長い長い列ができていた。

しかし、窓口の数も多いためか、列はスムーズに進んでそれほど待たされることはなかった。

フォロ・ロマーノとの共通チケットを買って、ようやくコロッセオの内部に入ることができた。

中に入ると、遺跡を保護するための作業が行われているのか、まるで建設中の工事現場のような雰囲気になっていた。

The Colosseum is one of the best tourist attractions in Rome. There was a long long line at the ticket office.

However, probably because of the large number of counters, the line went smoothly and I didn't have to wait that long.

I bought a common ticket with the Roman Forum and finally got inside the Colosseum.

Once inside, the atmosphere was like a construction site under construction, probably because work was being done to protect the ruins.

このコロッセオは、ローマの観光番組には必ずと言っていいほど紹介されるが、映画の中でもよく登場する。

真っ先に思い浮かぶのは、2000年に公開されたハリウッド映画、リドリー・スコット監督でラッセル・クロウ主演の『グラディエーター』だ。

192年に暴政の末に暗殺された、実在のコンモドゥス帝を悪役に見立てた映画で、最後のクライマックスの決闘シーンが、このコロッセオで展開される。

コンモドゥス帝は実際は自宅で殺されたが、その年に自ら剣士としてコロッセオに登場したと言われているので、あながち完全な作り話というわけではないかもしれない。

しかし、この映画の撮影はマルタ島に作られたセットで行われて、一部はCGによって当時のコロッセオの様子が再現されている。

The Colosseum is almost always featured on Roman tourist shows, but it often appears in movies.

The first thing that comes to mind is "Gladiator," directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe, a Hollywood movie released in 2000.

The final climax duel scene is unfolded in the Colosseum in a movie that resembles a real Emperor Commodus as a villain, who was assassinated after a tyranny in 192.

Emperor Commodus was actually killed at his home, but it is said that he himself appeared in the Colosseum as a swordfighter that year, so it may not be a complete myth.

However, the film was shot on a set made on the island of Malta, and partly by CG, the appearance of the Colosseum at that time was reproduced.

ブルース・リー主演の1972年製作の『ドラゴンへの道』では、実際のコロッセオで、ブルース・リーはチャック・ノリスと戦っている。

カンフーとコロッセオというミスマッチな印象がとても強く、今でも鮮明に覚えている。

他には、1951年にハリウッドで製作された『クオ・ヴァディス』だろうか。

ポーランドのノーベル文学賞作家のシェンキェヴィチの小説の映画化で、皇帝ネロの命令で、このコロッセオでキリスト教徒が猛獣との戦いを強いられるというシーンがある。

しかし、このコロッセオが作られたのは皇帝ネロで死んだ後であり、またキリスト教がコロッセオで見せしめのための殺された、ということは実際は無かったようだ。

この映画では、狂った皇帝ネロを演じた、ピーター・ユスティノフの怪演がとても印象に残っている。

このコロッセオを作ったのはウェスパシアヌス帝だが、軍人時代にパレスチナで起こったユダヤ人の反乱を鎮圧して、エルサレムの神殿から莫大な量の黄金を奪ったとされている。

最近の研究では、その膨大な黄金を資金に、このコロッセオが建設されたと考えられているようだ。

ローマに着いたその日のうちに、どっぷりと古代ローマの世界に飛び込んでしまった。
