【ローマ】トッレ・アルジェンティーナ広場 Roma - Largo di Torre Argentina

 

フォリ・インペリアーリ通りを真っ直ぐに進むと、巨大なヴェネツィア広場にたどり着く。

そこを左に曲がって、しばらく道を進んでいくと、トッレ・アルジェンティーナ広場が現れた。

Go straight on Via Foli Imperiali and you will reach the huge Piazza Venezia.

Turn left there and continue on the road for a while until Torre Argentina Square appears.

古代ローマの時代、このあたりはカンピドーリオの丘とピンチョの丘、そしてテベレ川に囲まれた場所で、軍神マルスの原と呼ばれる軍の練兵場だった。

現在は、町の中にポッカリと開いたような空間になっている。

これまでに共和国時代に建てられたと考えられている4つの神殿が見つかっているが、どの神を祀ったものかはわかっていないという。

現在もまだ発掘作業は続けられているようで、中に降りることはできない。

紀元前44年3月15日、元老院に向かっていたカエサルは、ポンペイウス劇場に続く列柱廊で、ブルートゥスやカッシウスらによって体中を刺されて亡くなった。

それは、カエサルが日頃から望んでいた、長く苦しむことのない、突然の死だった。

中に降りることはできないが、通りから中の様子はよく見ることができる。

遺跡の合間に、猫の姿がちらほら見える。

前に見たテレビ番組で、この広場の中には野良猫や捨て猫の保護センターがあることが紹介されていた。

その番組では、この広場の中にその事務所やショップがあり、そこには行けるようになっていたが、現在では広場自体に入れないようになっている。

保護センターはこの広場のすぐ近くの場所に移転したようだ。

You can't get down, but you can see the inside from the street.

Cats can be seen here and there between the ruins.

In a TV program I saw earlier, it was introduced that there is a stray cat and abandoned cat conservation center in this square.

In the program, the office and shops were in this square, and it was possible to go there, but now it is not possible to enter the square itself.

The conservation center seems to have moved to a location very close to this square.

人が入れなくなったことで、むしろ猫たちにはこの広場は落ち着いて過ごすことができる場所になったようだ。

もしかしたら、この広場のどこかに潜んでいるかもしれない、カエサルの魂も、この静かな場所でくつろいでいるのかもしれない。

It seems that this square has become a place where cats can spend their time calmly because no one can enter.

Perhaps the soul of Caesar, who may be lurking somewhere in this square, may be relaxing in this quiet place.
