【ローマ】ゲーテの家 Roma - Casa di Goethe

 

スペイン広場で一休みした後で、バヴィーノ通りをポポロ広場の方向に歩いていく。

両側には、レストランやホテル、ファッションの店やイタリア特産の品々を並べる店など、様々なショップや施設が並んでいる。

広いポポロ広場に出て、そこからコルソ通りをしばらく南に行くと、左手にゲーテの家がある。入り口はひっそりとしていて、ここを目当てに訪れる人以外は、ほとんど気付かれないような雰囲気だ。

After a break at Plaza España, walk along Via Bavino towards Plaza Popolo.

On both sides, there are various shops and facilities such as restaurants, hotels, fashion shops and shops selling Italian specialties.

Go out to the large Popolo Square and head south on Corso Street for a while, and you will see Goethe's house on your left. The entrance is quiet, and the atmosphere is almost unnoticeable except for those who visit here.

2階に上がると、白い壁が印象的な受付がある。その壁には、イタリア滞在中のゲーテを描いた有名なティシュバインの『カンパニアのゲーテ』を利用したポスターがあった。

ここは、ゲーテが1786年から1788年にかけて滞在した場所とされており、現在では”ゲーテの家”という名の小さなミュージアムになっている。

When you go up to the second floor, there is a reception desk with an impressive white wall. On the wall was a poster using the famous Tishbain's "Goethe of Campania" depicting Goethe during his stay in Italy.

This is where Goethe stayed from 1786 to 1788 and is now a small museum named "Goethe's House".

入場料を払って中に入ると、奥の方まで部屋が続いていて、それぞれの部屋にはゲーテがイタリア滞在中に書いた手紙や日記、ゲーテと所縁のある芸術家達の作品などが展示されている。

After paying the entrance fee, the rooms continue to the back, and each room displays letters and diaries written by Goethe during his stay in Italy, and works by artists related to Goethe.

ゲーテがこの家の窓から外を眺めている様子を描いた、ティッシュバーンのデッサンが展示されていた。

ゲーテは、イタリアを訪れる前から、ローマで謝肉祭のパレードを見るのをとても楽しみにしていたようだ。こんな風にこの家からそうしたローマの景色を楽しんでいたのだろうか。

Goethe seemed very much looking forward to seeing the carnival parade in Rome even before he visited Italy. Did he enjoy such a view of Rome from this house like this?
