【ローマ】国立21世紀美術館（MAXXI）美術の展示 Roma - Museo Nazionale delle Arti XXI Secolo (MAXXI), Art exhibition

 

ザハの斬新なデザインもあり、展示の内容も建築に関心が行きがちだが、この美術館には多くのイタリアの現代アートの作品も展示されている。

エリザベッタ・ベナッシの”Mario Merz 2013”という作品は、建物の外、入り口のすぐ近くに展示されているので、この美術館を訪れる人は誰もが目にすることになる。

マリオ・メルツも、2003年に亡くなったイタリアの現代アーティストで、消費社会への批判を込めて身の回りの品々でアート作品を作るアルテ・ポーヴェラ（貧しい芸術）を代表するアーティスト。

そのメルツが所有していた自動車を使って、メルツへのオマージュを感じる作品になっている。

With Zaha's innovative design, the contents of the exhibition tend to be interested in architecture, but this museum also exhibits many Italian contemporary art works.

Elisabetta Benassi's work "Mario Merz 2013" is displayed outside the building, right near the entrance, so that anyone who visits the museum will see it.

Mario Merz is also an Italian contemporary artist who passed away in 2003, and an artist who represents arte povera (poor art), who creates art works with everyday items with criticism of consumer society.

Using the car owned by Merz, it is a work that feels homage to Merz.

ギルバート＆ジョージの作品。ターナー賞の受賞経験もある、イギリスの2人組アーティスト。

2021年には日本でも小規模ながら個展が行われた。

その時は、カラフルな作品が展示されていたので、このデッサンのようなモノクロの作品は同じアーティストの作品とは思えない。

In 2021, a small solo exhibition was held in Japan.

At that time, colorful works were exhibited, so it is hard to believe that a monochrome work like this sketch is the work of the same artist.

ヨーゼフ・ボイスが、来場者を迎える姿に意表をつかれた。

この写真は、イタリアの女性写真家エリザベッタ・カタラーノが撮影したもので、ボイスはあるアート・イベントに参加するためにローマを訪れていた。

I was surprised to see Joseph Beuys welcoming the visitors.

The photo was taken by Italian female photographer Elisabetta Catalano, and Boyce was visiting Rome to attend an art event.

MAXXIでは、2018年に”Joseph Beuys. Tribute to Elisabetta Catalano”というイベントが開催されていて、ボイスのパフォーマンスの映像が公開されていたようだ。

ボイスは、1971年に初めてナポリで個展が開催されて、1972年にはローマで講演討論会を実施するなど、その時期はよくイタリアを訪れていた。

At MAXXI, an event called “Joseph Beuys. Tribute to Elisabetta Catalano” was held in 2018, and it seems that the video of Voice's performance was released.

Beuys had his first solo exhibition in Naples in 1971, and in 1972 he held a lecture and debate in Rome, and during that time he was a frequent visitor to Italy.

1階にあったこの美術館のコレクションを展示するスペースには、他にも多くの作品が並んでいた。

日本では、イタリアの現代アートはあまり紹介される機会がないので、これまで聞いたことがない作家や、作品がたくさんあって、とても刺激的だった。

イタリア以外でも、美術館のガイドによれば、ウィリアム・ケントリッジ、アンセルム・キーファー、ソール・レーヴィット、などの作品も持っているようだ。

Many other works were displayed in the space that displayed the collection of this museum on the first floor.

In Japan, there aren't many opportunities to introduce Italian contemporary art, so it was very stimulating to see so many artists and works that I had never heard of before.

Outside of Italy, the museum also has works by William Kentridge, Anselm Kiefer, Saul Levitt, and others, according to museum guides.

先に紹介したマリオ・メルツらが属していたアルテ・ポーヴェラのことは、今回のイタリア訪問で初めて知った。

日本の美術集団、具体を世界に紹介したスペインのアントニ・タピエスもアルテ・ポーヴェラのスタイルで作品を発表していた。

また、ヨーゼフ・ボイスも、アルテ・ポーヴェラの活動に興味を持っていたようだ。

今後、アルテ・ポーヴェラについてもっと知りたいと考えている。

It was during this visit to Italy that I first learned about Arte Povera, to which Mario Merz, who was introduced earlier, belonged.

Spain's Antoni Tapies, who introduced the Japanese art group Gutai to the world, also presented works in the style of Arte Povera.

Also, Josef Beuys seems to have been interested in Arte Povera's activities.

In the future, he would like to know more about Arte Povera.
