【ローマ】マッシモ宮のローマ国立博物館③ Roma - Palazzo Massimo alle Terma 3

 

この”休む剣闘士”のブロンズ像は、この博物館の中でも最も印象に残った展示品の一つだった。

紀元前400年頃に作られたと考えられていて、そのリアルさには時代を超えた何かを感じた。

すでに一つの闘いを終えた後なのか、これから闘いに臨もうとしているのか、それはわからない。

自分の右手にいる誰かの方向を見て、何事かを話しているようだ。あるいは、何か声をかけられて振り返った瞬間なのか。

このブロンズ像を見ていると、色々な物語が浮かんでくる。

両手の先には、戦うためのガードのようなものが巻かれているが、その表現が実に見事だ。

This bronze statue of a "resting gladiator" was one of the most impressive exhibits in the museum.

It is thought to have been built around 400 B.C., and I felt something timeless in its realism.

I don't know if it's already after finishing one battle, or if it's about to face the battle.

It looks like he's talking to someone on his right hand. Or is it the moment when someone called out to him and turned around?

Looking at this bronze statue, various stories come to mind.

The ends of his hands are wrapped around something like guards for fighting, and the expression is really splendid.

2世紀頃に作られた石棺で、見つかった場所からポルトナシオの石棺と呼ばれている。

カピトリーニ美術館のところでも書いたが、石棺の表面の浮き彫りは、ローマの美術の代表的な分野の一つだ。

コンモドゥス帝の時代の石棺浮彫を代表する作品で、その浮彫はマルクス・アウレリウスの記念柱の浮彫とよく似ているという。

This sarcophagus was built around the 2nd century AD and is called the Portonacio sarcophagus because of the location where it was found.

As I wrote about the Capitoline Museum, relief carvings on the surface of sarcophaguses are one of the representative fields of Roman art.

It is a work representative of the sarcophagus reliefs of the Commodus era, and it is said that the reliefs are very similar to those of Marcus Aurelius's column.

古代ローマで暮らしていたある豊かな夫婦の墓石の彫刻だろうか。

二人仲良く手を取り合っており、二人の夫婦仲は良好だったようだ。

The two were holding hands and seemed to have a good relationship.

モザイク絵も、古代ギリシャやローマを代表する美術作品。

戦っている戦士と、左に描かれているのは、争いに関係する女神の姿だろうか。

Mosaic paintings are also representative works of art from ancient Greece and Rome.

The warriors in battle and the figure on the left might be the figure of a goddess involved in the conflict.

ユニークな絵柄のフレスコ画だ。

魚とエビとタコが、三つ巴の闘いを演じている。

このような場面が実際にあったのだろうか。あるいは、何かのことわざを表現しているのだろうか。
