【ナポリ】王宮とナポリ王国の面影 Napoli - Palazzo Reale, Remnants of the Kingdom of Naples

 

ナポリ王宮の見学コースは、それぞれ趣の違った巨大な部屋を次々と見て回る、という流れになっている。

これまでのイタリアの旅では、ヴェネツィア共和国のドゥカーレ宮殿、フレンツェのメディチ家のピッティ宮殿、ローマ教皇が住んだヴァチカン宮殿、などの巨大で壮麗な建物を見てきた。

このナポリの王宮は、イタリアで初めて目にした”王のための宮殿”で、これまでのものとは少し違った印象を受けた。

次々と部屋が現れていくという意味では、ベルサイユ宮殿やハプスブルグ宮殿などのヨーロッパの国々の王宮と同様だった。

The tour course of the Royal Palace of Naples has a flow of looking around the huge rooms with different tastes one after another.

During my travels in Italy so far, I have seen huge and magnificent buildings such as the Doge's Palace in the Republic of Venice, the Medici's Pitti Palace in Florence, and the Vatican Palace, where the Pope lived.

This royal palace in Naples was the first “palace for the king” that I saw in Italy, and it gave me a slightly different impression.

In the sense that the rooms appeared one after another, it was similar to the royal palaces of European countries such as the Palace of Versailles and the Palace of Habsburg.

ナポリ王国は、13世から19世紀初頭まで続いたが、その支配者は次々と入れ替わり、いずれもイタリア人ではなく、フランスやスペインなど外国の王族につながる人々だった。

現在、イタリアと呼ばれている国は、古代はローマ帝国の一部であり、中世からルネサンスにかけてはこのナポリ王国やフィレンツェなどの都市国家の集まりだった。

そして、ようやく19世紀後半になってイタリアとして統一された。

The Kingdom of Naples lasted from the 13th to the early 19th century, but its rulers kept changing, none of them Italians, but people with ties to foreign royalty such as France and Spain.

The country we now call Italy was part of the Roman Empire in ancient times, and from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance was a collection of city-states such as the Kingdom of Naples and Florence.

Italy was finally united in the late 19th century.

2階の見学コースの最後に、王の礼拝堂が現れた。

巨大な祭壇は、下部には遠近法を駆使した豪華な浮き彫りがあり、上部には金がふんだんに使われた塔のような彫刻があって、さながら巨大な教会のミニチュアのようだ。

金持ちが天国に入るのは、ラクダが針の穴を通るより難しい。つまりそれは不可能だ、と言い切ったキリストの言葉とは、真逆の世界観がそこにはあった。

At the end of the tour course on the second floor, the King's Chapel appeared.

The huge altar looks like a miniature miniature church, with a rich perspective carving at the bottom and a tower-like carving rich in gold at the top.

It is harder for a rich man to enter heaven than it is for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. In other words, there was a worldview that was the exact opposite of Christ's words, which declared that it was impossible.

ナポリ王国のことを知ろうと書店を訪れてみたが、イタリアの歴史に関する本や、バロック期のナポリに関する本はあっても、ナポリ王国の通史に関する本を見つけるのは難しい。

まあ、ラクダが針の穴を通るほどにはは難しくないかもしれないが。

しかし素人がその歴史を知ろうとしたら、せいぜい、イタリア史に飛び飛びに記述されている南イタリアの部分を、後から繋ぎ合わせる程度のことしかできない。

I visited a bookstore to find out more about the Kingdom of Naples, but even though there are books about the history of Italy and Baroque Naples, it is difficult to find a book about the history of the Kingdom of Naples.

Well, maybe not as hard as a camel going through the eye of a needle.

However, if a layman tries to know the history, at best he can do nothing more than piece together the parts of southern Italy that are described in Italian history.

そうした本に頼らずに、この旅で実際に見たり感じたりした事から、かつて存在したナポリ王国の面影を辿ることくらいしかできないようだ。

Without relying on such books, from what I actually saw and felt on this trip, it seems that I can only trace the vestiges of the Kingdom of Naples that once existed.
